GHD approves grant of $25,000 to St. Madeleine
Sophie's Training Center for the phase 2 retrofit of its organic garden
The Grossmont Healthcare District
(GHD) board of directors has unanimously approved a grant of $25,000 to St.
Madeleine Sophie's Training Center in El Cajon for the phase 2 retrofit of its
organic garden to make it accessible in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities
Act (ADA).
GHD said its funds will provide materials for the construction of concrete pathways
in the upper half of the two-acre garden, which provides job training, exercise
and income for more than 250 adults with developmental disabilities who are
served by the Center.
The Grossmont Healthcare District, a public agency in San Diego's East County region, supports various health-related community programs and services in San Diego's East County region and serves as landlord of Grossmont Hospital on behalf of local taxpayers. The District, formed in 1952, is governed by a five-member board of directors, each elected to four-year terms, who represent nearly 500,000 people residing within the District's 750 square miles in San Diego's East County.
