Kids Care Fest offers free health screenings, fun
on Sept. 30th
The Grossmont Healthcare District and La Mesa Park & Recreation Foundation will join together to present the fifth annual Kids Care Fest, a free event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, at Briercrest Park, 9001 Wakarusa St., La Mesa.
The free event, featuring more than 50 exhibits, is designed for families with children under age 12 to receive free health information and screenings from doctors, including hearing and vision tests. Other free health screenings will include dental, podiatrist and chiropractic, as well as scoliosis spinal exams.
Additional free activities will include arts and crafts, sports activities, rock climbing and pony rides, along with demonstrations and displays from law enforcement, including police and fire officials. Free new reading books, along with coloring books and crayons, will be available for children to take home and keep. A free lunch will be served to children while supplies last.
Additional sponsors include the City of La Mesa, La Mesa Athletic Council, La Mesa Arts Alliance, Friends of East County Arts, Inc., La Mesa Rotary, Troy Glaus of the Toronto Blue Jays baseball club and the La Mesa United Methodist Church, Sharp Grossmont Hospital, Barratt American, Cox Communications, Ralph's Grocery, North Island Credit Union, Windmill Farms, San Diego Union-Tribune, H&J Graphics and Golden Acorn Casino.
Kids Care Fest is a smoke-free event. Free parking is available at Sharp Grossmont Hospital's Brier Patch campus at 9000 Wakarusa St. and Grossmont Medical Arts Building at 8851 Center Dr.
